BASIC CAKE MAKING
- Preheat the oven to 160'C (325'F/Gas 3).Grease and line the required tin. Put the softened butter or margarine, sugar, eggs and sifted flour in a large bowl. Add the chosen flavoring ,if desired.
- Beat with an electric whisk for about 2 minutes or until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
- Turn the mixture into the prepared tin and and level the surface. Bake in the oven for the time (1-11/2hours) or until the cake is firm touch and a skewer inserted in the center comes out on to a wire rack and leave to cool completely. Wrap the cake tightly in foil until ready to decorate.
