    BASIC ICING RECIPES

     

    ROYAL   ICING

    INGRIDIENTS 

    •        FOR 550g OF ROYAL ICING  YOU WILL NEED.
    • 2 egg whites
    • 1ml lemon juice
    • 500g icing sugar 
    • 5ml glycerin            

    1. Place the egg whites in a clean, grease-free bowl and add the lemon juice. Use a clean wooden spoon to break up the egg whites
    2. Sift some of the measured icing sugar into the bowl. The sugar has to be added a little time, never add too much too quickly.
    3. Use a wooden spoon to stir the sugar into the egg  white and lemon juice mixture and beat until the mixture resembles unwiped cream.
    4. Continue adding sugar and beating thoroughly until you achieve the desired consistency is used for icing a cake.
    • you can be made using a heavy duty electric beater.it is  very easier than the hand mixing and it should take about the few minutes.
    • You can adding food colorings for it , and take good appearance of a cake.
    • The most important point to bear in mind is that the color you choose must edible.                                                            
    Used  for icing and piping, royal icing is mostly required for traditionally decorated celebration cakes, but is also used  on some novelty cakes.

    1. Preheat the oven to 160'C (325'F/Gas 3).Grease and line the  required tin. Put the softened butter or margarine, sugar, eggs and sifted flour in a large bowl. Add the chosen flavoring ,if desired.    
    2. Beat with an electric whisk  for about 2 minutes or until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
    3. Turn the mixture into the prepared tin and and level the surface. Bake in the oven for the time (1-11/2hours) or until the cake is firm touch and a skewer inserted in the center comes out on to a wire rack and leave to cool completely. Wrap the cake tightly  in foil until ready to decorate.
